TravelShout provides a "Chat Widget" that can be added to other websites. The idea is that a site owner adds the ShoutBox to their site and adds a tag to say what topic is being discussed. People browsing your website can then have discussions with people on other websites on the topic.

TravelShout it targeted at the travel industry and the "topics" are typically the location that the site, or page, is covering.

The TravelShout site, and user management, is Drupal 5. The ShoutBox is JavaScript with heavy use of jQuery.
