Firefox 3
I installed Firefox 3 RC1 this morning. I have to say, it's feeling quite stable, very responsive and the CSS rendering is pretty good. It hasn't produced any complaints from looking at any of my recent projects at least.
Most of the extensions I need are available. The only big one that is missing at the moment is Firebug. Web Developer works though so I can see myself getting by until Firebug is ready. I really like both extensions but Firebug just has that little extra that allows it to win me over. I have to say that Web Developers live CSS editing has a more natural feel to me though.
Anyway...
Oh! SVG support is right up there. :) An absolutely brilliant example of this in action is the Lively Kernel. Check out the Demo over at http://livelykernel.sunlabs.com/. Not bad for Javascript and XML.
I do have one complaint.
The UI feels a little rushed in some areas. The tabs don't seem to sit right. There's a very small gap beneath them and the selected tab has an extra band under it that appears to be about 10% wider than the tab itself. I'm seeing this in Edit>Preferences>Advanced also. Although there, it seems to works okay. The extra bit under the tab is larger and seems to feel like it fits while in other areas where it's less obvious, like the tabs in the main browser, leaves it feeling unfinished.
This extension to the tabs may also impact on some other addons. I'm writing this using ScribeFire, which seems quite nice so far. However, there are a few areas where an element appears to be being placed over this extra part of the tab bar.
I'm wondering if this is just me? I'll test it at home on the Slayage too. See if I see the same thing.
